what colors would have the greatest conrast on the spine of a book, so if you're looking at books on a shelf you would have to look because of the colors?
I am dying, this book will be given out at my memorial service. It's my version of all the great memories with these poeple that made my life so very enjoyable.

Dear Mike,
It's times like this I'm grateful for having the ability to give you some advice which will provide you with the ability to create a great book spine which will last in the hearts of your friends and family.
Of course this book coming from your your heart during your last days bet should be more than sufficient as a memorial.
Typographically speaking your best bet is a solid black spine with yellow, bold san-serif typeography.
This will stand out more than any other color combination can be most clearly legible.

Good luck but I pay very little attention to the colours of books, I generally already know what I want from the bookshop when I enter, if not then I just browse by author etc...anyone over the age of about 12 isn't going to be drawn-in by colours really. Just make the back as interesting a read as you can. |

Sorry that you're dying. Hope that it's not by choice because maybe you can do something about it. You asked about the spine of a book. I jokingly tell people I specialize in designing spines of book and DVDs. It isn't so much the colors although they need to contrast, like black and white, or red and black, or yellow and dark blue, but you need to use the largest, simplest type possible so it can be read from a distance. OK? good luck. |

I would also publish to the net and perhaps a CD as well. In terms of color, it might do you well to consult with an artist or color consultant. Colors can make a big difference.
