I am working out of my 3 car garage. I am fully set up, with the lift and everything. just not enough customers. how can i let more people know of my services without spending a ton of money on advertsing. Additional Details I am currently advertising on craigslist. that's it. |

My initial thought would be to join a service club or mens organization and meet and talk to all the members shake their hands and get to know who owns companies that have a fleet of trucks or delivery vehicles you can get as an account. look for cars driving around town with advertising on them and go get all of those as accounts. put flyers on the windshield of every older car in every lot you park in and walk through. Join the P T A put an ad in the high school football program offering a discount when the team wins. Get cards made (in different colors by season) with a different discount on them to stop in for a free service even if it's free air in the tires. windshield wipers promotion buy one get one free. radiator top off. Get the trunk vacuumed whatever, get up off your *** and get to work! |

I can think of a hundred things.... try what my buddy did... Have matches printed up... Have the printer put an add or an oil change deal on it to draw people in... Now heres the genius part... Give a box of these to all those LOCAL convenience marts near you... When a customer asks for matches the clerk gives them to the customer and he sees your ad.... The store wins because they dont have to buy matches and you win because its free advertising....
Another thing you can do is this.... Offer the store owner free oil changes..... then he lets you put an advertising flyer inside every one of his plastic or paper bags he gives to his customers.... that way local folks in your area see your advertisement....
Use your head! -- Theres a thousand simple things you can do to advertise on the cheap!!!
Got a busy pizza shop that delivers nearby??? Offer an oil change or 2 to the owner... You have a flyer taped to every pizza box that goes out in your area!!! |

Word of mouth is an important advertising tool that you can use. Give your customers business cards. Anyone who they refer will get 5% off if they bring in your card, and the customer who gave out the card will receive 10% off on their next service.

Consider offering a referral reward to your current customers (such as, "I'll give you 10% off your next visit if you refer a new customer who spends $100 or more with me").
Think about ways to build repeat business and loyalty with your current customers. Do you have a lot of one-time customers, or do you see most of them coming back again and again for your services? To encourage more repeat business, you might offer some type of incentive, it doesn't have to be costly. "A free tire check with every visit" or some sort of gimmick that they'll remember and come back for.
Start a mechanic's blog, add one or a few pictures, and make sure you send the link to everyone you know within 20 miles of your home.
Contact your "local news" editor at your newspaper, and tell them you're making money by working from your home, and tell them a positive story about your business (make it sound like a human interest / news story). Or submit an article you or someone you know has put together with at least one photo. People are always interested in how they can work from home, it's worth a try getting an article about your business in the local paper. It's newsworthy, and it's free advertising for your business, plus a keepsake you can frame in your garage!

If you have a store put cheaper rates on because people are looking for cheaper rate to get there cars fixed and they will want to save money and also advertise in your local newspaper its cheaper and help full or advertise on Kijiji and promote your ad for just 5 or 6 dollars$ or craigslist.Try advertising in a place where it is effective and cheap.There are 2 benefits you save money and you promote your Ad so you can have more customers and more money to spend on your business or family.
