You have a number of things you need to look at:
How much funding is needed?
What is that funding going to pay for?
What revenue are you projecting? From whom?
What expenses are projected? For what?
How long until the business is profitable?
Do you have a budget?
Where are you looking for funding?
Are you looking for debt financing or equity financing?
If Equity, how much of the business are you looking to give up? Do you have proof of concept? (That the company can be profitable and projections are good) |

You might want to start small by doing a little at home and building a business over the Internet or selling at shows on the weekend. Build your clientele to see if your business will work. This will need little money. Just the money for your artistic materials. If you do ebay, there is a minimal charge to list. If you do art shows there is an entry fee.
If you do decide to go bigger, you can get free advice from the SBA (Small Business Agency?). They have retired people who will give you free advice. |

Here is a few
I did not borrow any monies.....
But started with small reasonable amount and my own stuff.
Lots of research,networking,used wall space in other small shops helped in me in advertising.
Thinking of moving up to another step and doing retail not sure on that one yet...I look for a nitch in my area and my skills.
I do a services now...
I use all free services in the business world..
Neighborhood small business meetings...
Locale colleges
Department of human resources...
Other women in business.
