How about a catchy (funny) YouTube video or a Facebook group or an amusing 10-things list that you try to get promoted on Facebook.
They thing is, If you're providing free content on your site and it's what people will want and it's really good and you've optimised your pages okay then you shouldn't need to do that much - the content should promote itself.
But it all takes time.
