The above list is great, people have great success with Craigslist although it really does depend on what you're selling. Free may not be the best if your model is set for quick return on sales. Pay for performance ads simply get more exposure and more control then free and might benefit you more. If your idea is good and the product is sell-able then work your sphere of influence (friends and family) for some small startup. An online ad campaign can be strictly controlled to limit your expenditures and that start up can go a long way. Of course, the more you believe in your sales the easier it is to convince others and in turn offer the initial helpers a kickback on sales.
Another free avenue of ads is through blogging. You can blog your business startup attempts in a step by step trial and error format as well as include product blogs. Then syndicate the blog and possibly use it for support of your campaign.
Good Luck!
Some are free but you need to consider an advertising budget. Only free traffic won't do the trick. It's not good, quality, and targeted traffic.
That's what you need for better exposure.
Enjoy!!!
