1) Start a Myspace page, a few hours a day add a **** load of people within 5 miles of your Salon. Do this often, then start posting bulletins each day about your salon and holiday offers.
2) Call your local news station and say your Salon is giving 3 free make overs for single moms looking for jobs, or something catchy for the Holidays. Hell, there are a million things you can offer. The News LOVES This type of holiday cheer, feel sorry stuff.

If you are going to put an ad in the paper then yes you would have to pay for that. Usually when you get you newspaper and you look in the classifieds i think, there is a form you can fill out about how you want your ad and send it to them. |

You can always tell friends and family, also if your childrens' or anyone you know is having a school fair, you can sponsor, or at silent auctions make a basket with salon things in it. Send out coupons. Make a website. Put up flyers, and I know that locally there are advertisements such as Penny Savers and Craigslist and other websites for advertisement. Email everyone you know. You can contact local schools to use their recorded message systems. I have done that before to advertise an activity coming up, and the school was more than happy and they send it out to many of their contacts! Be creative and you can use microsoft publisher to make AWESOME flyers. you might use powerpoint also. You can have a grand opening sale! Get more people, friends involved...have them help out with cashier things and stuff and they will work at a low price if they know you and stay at home. |

Some suggestions:
- Start a website (but you gotta pay, although it's not much)
- Alternatively, start a personal blog and promote your website there. Wordpress.com is a good place to begin. Get positive testimonials from your customers and place it on one of the web links on your blog
- Encourage your customers to post positive comments for you on forums on beauty and haircare
- Promote your salon through your customers (viral marketing) which I find to be the most effective and impactful
- Offer discounts at certain times of the year
- Get celebrities to patronise your salons
- Invite the media to feature your salon in their programme segment if relevant
I hope that my suggestions above helps. |
