you can do link exchanges with other sites. Other than that, advertising isn't free. If you have products you can submit them to Froogle, that is free. Most search engines allow you to submit yourself to them for free as well.

*Start a blog to accompany your site. Write useful content that will attract visitors to your site while making them aware of what your site has to offer.
*Submit your site to free directories, especially ones that focus on your niche.

Don't trust these "traffic exchanges". They are worthless and the people posting links get credit for those links. The way to get free traffic is to create tons of content and then optimizse it for search engines. This is also called "SEO". http://www.webpageblueprint.com has good SEO tutorials. There is a lots of free advertising sites ,annd there are some companies called Traffic Exchanges .
These are sites that has a rotating program and most of them has 1000+ + members ,so what these companies do is giving away credit for you when look at other members sites ,and what these credits do is let other members look at your site as much as the credit you have ,for example if you have 50 credits you will have 50 views and thats depends on the company you are in and the membership you have cause there is some cmpanies that gives you 1 view for 2 credits and there others gives you 2 views for 1 credit .
