Did they say why? The answer depends upon the reason. If they have no valid reason, don't resign. Collect unemployment benefits if they fire you.
You give so few details that I wonder about why they want you to leave. I hope your English skills are better at work than they appear in your question.

If you resign you cannot receive unemployment benefits. You should make them fire you, then collect unemployment. It will raise the rate they pay on unemployment insurance. |

I have been in that boat. My "letter of resignation" simply described the events leading up to my forced resignation (how I was only working part time and needed full time and how I was assured I could work evenings while I worked for temporary services, but then the crazy director changed her mind and when I was transitioning, I was suddenly told what day would be my last--I actually see this as a gift). They wanted a letter of resignation, so they wouldn't have to pay unemployment benefits. The Director went ballistic after she read my letter that I had handed to my manager as I walked out. It was ridiculous and horrific and no one should be "forced to resign" in any such way! My supervisor called me 45 minutes later screaming at me on my cell phone's minutes. I don't lie easily but since I was at a gas station I glad-handled him, knowing full well I wasn't going to write any other "letter of resignation" when I did not resign. I just needed to get him off the phone.
Don't give it to them, let them call the police or threaten you which they won't because coercion is against the law everywhere. Do not write any such letter of resignation unless you are actually resigning, but it doesn't sound like you are doing this. Maybe take a small tape recorder to your last day/days and let them know you'll be taping all your final conversations. That will put the fear of God into their rancid little hearts.
With a door as hostile as that behind you, the future should look bright and shiny!

well, why? What does your employment contract say? If you resign, you cannot collect unemployment or lose your legal rights to sue for unlawful discharge. If you want to leave, ask him how much your severance package will be, and what will be reflected on your employment history. |

Try to buy time. Immediately contact Human Resorces Department and let them know this approach by your boss. They may be able to enligthen you on your performance and what your boss may have said about you.
Get your resume ready even if you survive. It isn't over and worst of all your boss will be chasing you every minute of your existence.
Review the laws in your state.

First check the unemployment benefit laws in your state!!!
Only resign if they offer in writing a very kick @ss severance package for you to do so.
no matter what polish the resume and find another job unless you can get your boss fired with a little inside info. |

Resign. Do self-introspection whether anything wrong is with you. Try to get yourself rectified. Don't worry. This world is so wide to accomodate you. If one door is closed, the other door is kept opned to welcome you. Prepare for the next job. Certainly you are going to get the job of your choice. I find there is no meaning in arguing with your boss to see that you are continued there when he has a negative approach towards you. Be bold and face the situation. Good luck! |
