Right now I would move your text (content) up to the top of the page...readers like to see something to read right off (web spiders start there too;-)
Centre your picture and add more content.
Maybe move your links to the bottom across the page or perhaps add a line or two about what or where they are. This helps to fill out the page. It also helps to build your content piece by piece
You need to sort out the HTML text at the bottom and ....
get rid of that ****ing BANNER!

The best way to promote your site is to make sure you have a mission for your website (I assume you sell horses, based on the website), and fresh content promoting that mission. Remember that search-engines can't read pictures, it's extremely important to have good copy (text).
If you're looking to sell locally, billboards are an inexpensive way to introduce a website. Phone book is still king of the local advertising scene.
If you're looking for regional exposure, radio is often the most cost effective way to get your message out.
I believe one of the other answers indicated the use of Google AdWords. It's tough to beat this service for driving internet traffic.
Keep in mind you can promote your site for FREE when you go to blogs, message boards, etc and leave intelligent comments (just chase your comments with your website address--the implication being if you want more information go to this address.) Spend time responding to people's questions, but make sure you tie it to your website.
Finally, it's very easy to create a letter of some kind to mail out to people explaining your website exists and how it can be beneficial to them. I would look into paid search:
You create ads and choose keywords, which are words or phrases related to your business or website.
