I am looking for 200 businesses to advertise on my website. Trouble is I don't want any get rich quick or pyramid scheme, I just want legit businesses but am finding this hard. I have emailed countless businesses but I think they think its all a scam. How do I let businesses know that I am for real and not going to run off with their money? I do have a company registration number. If your web site gets 1000's of hits daily you will have advertisers rushing to advertise on your site. If it gets very few hits no ones going to be interested. Do you know how many hits you get monthly? It's the first thing advertisers are going to check. Send me a link or post one here so I can have a look and advise you better. |

Who are your target audience what sort of product or information have they come to your site for?
A better way to do this might be to target your town or city within your keywords and then you could make it a local directory where you could promote business in you area.... Ask then for content for your site maybe even coupons or discount as giveaway create a page for them with a description of the services...
Collect a mailing list for subscribes and post them out new offers and give away to keep them returning to your site.
Action Plan: Go to a local restaurant and explain that you want to run a competition with the prize being a meal for 2, tell then that you will be promoting there business for free for the next 2 weeks, around town,( flyer, newspaper ads, and word of mouth, ect) the conditions of entry is that the sign up for you newsletter and the winner will be announced at the end of the month...
By doing this you can create a customer base fast.... which you can mail new offers to creating return customers.
Have a give away each week, 2 weeks, month

I agree with poster 1.
If I'm a company trying to find customers I need to know that a site is being looked at regularly AND by potential customers. So you need a counter which proves this is happening, and you need a site which will be found by people who are interested in the sort of products the advertisers are offering.
So if you had a site which was regularly found by people looking for, for instance, model aeroplanes, you could probably get toy manufacturers to advertise on your site.
That's the way it works.
If you haven't got a plan and proven usage along those lines, you won't have a chance.

i think it depends mainly what your site is about and how popular it is.
for example i think a website about the nintendo wii would have higher paying advertisers than a website about sega genesis.
