Do a search for "online auctions" and see what that brings up.
If you go to Yahoo, and search something like the "Top 100", you will find what most people are searching online. Most of the time, it is: celebrities, s*x, and online entertainment. If you can find a way to bridge your product with the most searched terms, you will get more traffic to whatever site you open.
My husband and I listed some old computer equipment and exercise gear on craigslist. We also put a link to a blog that we created in the descriptions on craigslist. The blog had pics and descriptions of everything we were posting. About 2 hours after placing the ads, somebody called and wanted to buy ALL of our computer equipment. He said he never would have known we had it all if we hadn't put it on the blog.
What I am saying... is to get creative. You definitely want to advertise where your market is, and then go above and beyond what everybody else is doing.
Good luck, and happy selling!
