CaoBoi | I want to sell stuff on ebay. How do I accept money ? |
I just have few things I'd like to get rid off. I don't wanna do business selling stuff on ebay. I have a free paypal account which I use to buy stuff off of ebay. But in order for me to sell on ebay, I need to be able to accept payments by paypal, correct ? If so, I need something like premiere paypal service or whatever they are called, which costs money, right ? If I have to pay paypal in order to accept payment, I don't think that'll leave me with much and I only have 3 or 4 items I wanna sell. Any pointers you can offer will be much appreciated. Additional Details OK thanks all for your answers but no one is saying if I pay paypal for being able to accept paypal. I have no problem accepting money to my paypal account, just don't wanna have to pay them hefty fees so that I can accept paypal. If I was doing this to sell items regularly, I can see paying for it but I just have few tech itmes like, hard drives, portable dvd player, software and stuff.
I could never accept personal check from a stranger anyhow. |

You can always accept money orders/cashiers checks without using Paypal. But, paypal is very easy, not expensive and quicker than waiting on mail. No setup fees, etc. Just a certain percent of collected, like 2%. Check out the link below. Or, if it doesn't work - paypal website. |

You've been given some bad info.
A paypal payment of $200 into your Personal PayPal account will cost $9.80 + a $0.30 fee with a personal paypal account.
A PayPal payment of $200 into your Business PayPal account will cost $5.80 + the $0.30 fee.
-------------------------
I think you concern is your worried about paying paypal fees like a end of the month bill and it doesn't work like that. Your fees are automatically deducted by PayPal when the payment is received. Yes, it's high, but it's very safe.
You said you won't take a check. We do. Why? Check with your bank but a bounced check doesn't cost me anything. So when I get a check, I hold it for 3 weeks to be sure it's clear. If you selling a $30 hard drive it's not to big of a gamble that a buyer will send a bad check. If it was a $3,000 computer, then yes I would have some reservations until the check was cleared and the "money was in the bank" so to speak.
Understand this too. If you don't offer paypal, you will get less money for your items. Sorry, but it's a fact of ebay. Buyers will be cautions to buy from someone who doesn't offer PayPal as a payment option. So a small fee on a hard drive may be worth the $8 more dollars you make on the sale.
Upgrading to a business account from a personal account with PayPal doesn't cost anything.
Hope this helps and don't believe everything you read here from others. -- Heck challenge my answer, it will float to scrutiny. |

via checking account, you have to enter you account number or debit card number, make an ebay account. Thats how I receive my money from the things I sell. If your a college student, checking accounts at CHase is free but keep the money in the checking. |

Hello there.....
you will have to pay a small fee...usually about 3% i think...i use ebay a lot and if the items are low price then u wont be paying them much...i usually use craigslist.com if i have low priced items because by the time you are done paying your ebay sellers fees, ebay final value fees and paypal fees then it's not worth the time and effort...you could also accept money order or bank check...takes a while longer to get the money but you dont have the fees......usually you dont get as many bidders wither because folks dont want to wait for their item.....good luck! |

Hi,
I have sold about 4 things so far and I do not like that I had to go to a premier account...but those are the rules. From my understanding of it, if someone uses PayPal from a debit account....i.e., bank account, there is no charge. But, if it is from a credit card or other, there is a fee for processing. The problem is how do you know which one it is in advance? You
don't. I wrote Ebay and informed them of their "nickel and diming" to death and received a blank "sorry you feel that way" response, but then don't use us attitude. I live in MA and have had far better results from www.craigslist.org and Action Unlimited than Ebay to be honest. My sister is designing a website that will hopefully be up and running by the end of this year called MyBigCity and MyLittleCity. Similar to craigslist, but better. She's registered the logo and has the site half designed. Keep a lookout for it . Another site I use is through Yahoo called CEN. They just moved their site, but look around for local sites as they are popping up everywhere and are free to us little folk. Hope this helps and good luck. |

Okay to start off, PayPal is your best answer because you are covered. The fees aren't bad. I have sold items for a few hundred and only paid like $1.50. But be careful because I have had hacking issues.
You can accept a personal check, but once you get that check in the mail, you need to deposit it and let it sit 11 days in order to be sure it clears. Make sure if you do use personal check that in your listing, in the payment portion of the form, make sure it says that items are shipped upon clearing of personal check and do not ship until it does in fact clear. So they are more likely to send amoney order. Be cautious of the postal office money orders as well because right now is a big scam regarding these, however, your financial institution can tell immediately. Good luck! |

You may sell, your stuff on eBay.
You may accept money, through Pay pal, it is ' F R E E '.
However, if you are not interested in availing Pay pal, you may talk to your Bankers. Presently most of the Banks are having ' A n y W h e r e B a n k i n g ', I am sure they will have a workable solution for '' Y O U '' .
You may dispatch your item / product only after realizing payment in your 'Bank Accounts' |

You don't have to accept PayPal. Just be sure you don't click the "PayPal" button under accepted forms of payment. You can put in your listing that you only accept certain types of payment - personal check, cashier's check, or money order. For small orders, you can always tell the buyer that you would also accept unused US postage stamps (if that's what you want to do).
Some bidders may be hesitant to purchase from you if you don't accept credit card payments via PayPal. It depends on the type of items you want to sell - if they're small items - under $25 - most bidders are willing to "risk" it and send you the type of payment you specify (I've never accepted personal checks). It also depends on your feedback too - if buyers can see that you are "trustworthy."
But, if you have a high ticket item, chances are, buyers won't bid if you don't accept paypal credit cards. |

I sell on Ebay. , I never had fees for acceting paypal. You can do personal checks, just dont send items till it clears, money orders the same so you know there not fraud. You will have small fees for pics of items.i sold 15 items with 2 pics each it was about 6 dollars in fees. I recomend adding pics of items, more people will look. Also make sure you specify combining shipping and your return policy.if you dont have pics of items you can find same item on ebay and post that pic.Good luck mel |

`i sell on ebay.
you will need to register a checking account to be confirmed. they will direct depost 15 cents and you will have to type that you recieved 15 cents or whatever you recieve.
if you sell an item for 10.00 and a person pays you through paypal you wil probaly recieve 9.40 immedietley and the 60 cents goes to paypal. thats how it works. |

No, you don't have to pay Paypal to be a member. It is free to sign up and stay signed up. |

well, you're spazzing as if you have to pay a whole lot.
when you sell, you have to pay the ebay selling fees, and then wehen you get the payment in paypal, paypal will automatically take some fees away
so if you recieve a payment of $200, paypal will take about 2 bucks so you'll be left with like $198. |
