you just need to be prepared for a lot of rejections if you start to gate crash ad agencies.
lookout for jobs and apply to them, or write into the HR dept of the companies you're interested in - don't just turn up on their door steps.
copy-writing to me is a creative skill and my general advice is to build up a portfolio, highlight where you contributed to make the copy better. Send it to the companies you're interested in or put it online if that's an option and advertise yourself.

It's a long shot. In the sense, of course no harm trying. But the creative heads are usually very busy and have packed schedules so they might not be able to meet you even if they want to!
What i'd recommend is doing something novel to catch their eye. For eg: Find out the name of the creative directors of these agencies. Work on a cool creative direct mailer ,( can be physical as well) which also contains snapshots of your work and send it across. if the DM comes out good, it will catch their eye...and thats half the work done
Well, it would catch my eye at least :)

Yeah go for it. Good luck.

Copywriters in Advertising Industry are in GREAT DEMAND. All you require is good command over English and writing skills. You can approach any job placement companies or directly send your applications to the companies. They will call for interview and you have to do it well. I do not know where you stay otherwise I would have helped you with some idea. Anyway do whatever I have suggested above and you will get an opening. -
