I am a Makeup Artist and work Weddings thought Texas. I was asked to create a Write up about myself to be published in an upcomming Wedding Magazine. This is supposed to drive my buisness aswell? But nervous to look silly, I didn't ask what a write up was? Any help? Is there a format?

A write up is basically a description of your background. Some of the things you might consider including are any qualifications, years of experience or in business, specialities and location(s) you operate from.

To make it really zing though include 1 or 2 items that would make you seem unique/special - perhaps you done some work for a celebrity or well known person ("Clients include XYZ..."). Alternatively it might even be a short description of your own special technique or ideas to make the wedding party look particularly great. If you do offer some unique technique you have (don't be too specific about it) but give it a name - "Creator of the X method". This will help you stand out and make potential clients remember you.

A write-up is like a mini autobiogaphy of yourself. You want to focus on what in your life inspired you to become a makeup artist. It could go something like this: Ever since I was 12 years old I enjoyed putting on makeup and giving my friends makeovers....(etc.etc). Then, tell a little more about yourself...like this: I live in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan with my husband, three year old daughter and six cats. ( You can be alot more creative than this). When I am not getting a bride beautiful for her wedding, I enjoy snowskiing, painting and dining out.

If your not good with "colorful words " get help .This write up can make your business become very well known.How we word somethings can be worth getting a professional to help.They can say exactly what you would but just so noticeable / professional .I am not saying you are not professional , but wording will be what the reader will view .

Yep, just a short bio. Professional training, experience, etc. Usually not too personal but give a little insight into who you are and why you like what you do.

Just jargon for a paragraph about YOU and your business. Generally a paragraph or so...but do ask about length. Not a dumb question. They will probably give you a word length, 100 words, 500 words, not to exceed x number of words

A write up is a short description of who you are, what your business is about, your experience etc. It's just another way to advertise your business.
