Since Hurricane Katrina, so many New Orleans evacuees are now living here in Jackson, MS.I have considered having a similar shop to the historical cafe in New Orleans " Cafe du Monde". I would like to know if anyone could give me any ideas or enlighten me on how to go about establishing a nice coffee shop in the downtown area. I would like to contribute my upcoming business to the survivors of the " BIG EASY" ( New Orleans). I am in my mid 20s but I'm a highly motivated individual. I agree with bagels. Also muffins. Also coffee alternatives for those who non-drinkers who come with friends...hot cocoa, lemonade, juice, or soda maybe? An interesting idea would be to sell live cd's of local people you have come play there (if you plan to do that...) or artwork or something else unique like that. Coffee, for some strange reason is often tied to the arts...so maybe run with that. It's hard to create a unique idea for a coffee shop, because it's all been done before. |

before starting your business you will need a good primary location, and the proper permits and licenses.Then you need to hire the best employees you can find.Then decide what you want to have on your menu...french pastry would work, since its new Orleans; local favorites...donuts, cinnamon buns(Ca C'est Bon) and delicatessen sandwiches...Don't forget the French flair...Print up your menu...Decorate with a "new Orleans type theme....And open your doors for business..... |

Croissants are better as they have a french flavour. You could also try empanadas and samosas. The former is baked, the latter fried but both are small meals and can be delicious.
As for a name: how about a homely - Chez Nous?
