It's a scam they are running out of Canada. I was involved in assisting the authorities in tracking several of them down about nine months ago. They operate their banking system with cell phones. That way they are always on the move and very difficult to catch. It is usually a much higher amount then what you are stating though. They get your good check or bank draft in turn you get a check that is no good. |

why would they need money from you if they're giving you money? shouldn't they deduct the money that you owe and give you the rest? it sounds like it's definately a scam and I'm guessing you'll never see any money and you'll be out your $55 |

Scam! I've actually gotten checks in the mail for $5000 and they're from an actual bank. Turns out, they want you to reimburse them and when you do, they're check bounces and you're out $5000. I called the bank and they told me it was a very common scam. Luckily I didn't fall for it.

How exactly did you find out about this? Did you get it in an email or was it sent to your mailing address? The reason that I'm asking is because it kind of sounds (from what you've said so far) like something that I got at my mailing address last month. You can read my blog entry about it at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-SM_to2klbKPflprA_NHeyHKQzfsMS9w-?cq=1&p=707 What I got was a letter stating that I had won the British Random Lottery and it included a very real looking check. They wanted me to go and cash the check. Then, I was supposed to send it to them to cover the taxes ,or whatever it was, and they would send me the money that I has won. Well, I didn't fall for it because I already knew it was a scam. I get those things at my email address all the time. I just wasn't aware that they were targeting people at their home mailing addresses. Anyway, this really sounds a lot like what I got. Whatever you do, DON'T FALL FOR IT!! IT'S A SCAM!! DON'T BE A VICTIM!!! |
