Ebay can be safe.
But, you really need to know your seller. Look at their feedback---not just the recent feedback, but all of it.
If they have consistent good feedback and they have been selling for quite a while, they are usually trustworthy.
Also, see what their return policy is. A good seller will normally have a decent return policy.
And, use PayPal and a credit card to purchase your item. PayPal has some buyer protection if you aren't satisfied or get ripped off. If they fail you, you can make a claim with your credit card.
I still wouldn't recommend buying items that are of high value, though. |

yes, but be sure to read about the shipping costs, item might be cheap, so sellers make up for their fees and costs by jacking up shipping costs, bought an item and when i received it, the postage was $1.06 but i paid $6.00 for "shipping & handling" Go Figure!!!! I mean $3.00 would be a fair price. |

Ebay is a safe site to shop. You just have to check the sellers feedback and make sure they have had good transactions in the past. I dont know of any other sites like ebay. |

would know that it goes through heaps of handling and most of the time the stuff gets delievered BROKEN !! |

Generally, yes. They have safety features built in to protect you. (You can read about the specifics on ebay.) But take the time to check a user's rating (by other users) before buying from them, and don't purchase from them outside the system.
For instance, if you lose a bid and they come to you later and say, "Hey, I have an extra one to sell," or "The first place bidder didn't pay. I'll sell it to you for this price," ... then you're outside the protection of ebay and you're on your own. |

I recently purchased a hot tub. Smooth transaction. Contact the seller prior to bidding, be sure to read the item description and shipping information thoroughly. NEVER respond to any "Second Chance Offers" they are usually bogus. Good Luck! |

They are very safe, most others also.
You need to beware of the other sellers on the site.
Don't enter into deals off of the site, you lose all of the protection.
Some sellers offer a better deal if you go directly through them to avoid the fee, this already show the lack of integrity in play. |
