the penny will never be eliminated the reason is that muli million dollar corperations will have to round to the nearest dollar and they will loose alot of money if that were to happen say one corperation buys 1000 units for $99.98 it would be rounded off to $100 and they would be loosing $20 don't sound like alot but it adds up |

Well, the value of a coin depends more so on the rarity of the coin. The pennies today aren't exactly rare, and therefore, not likely to be worth more than a penny in the future. Also, this controversy has played out time and time again over the years, and we still have pennies. I very likely doubt that they will ever go away. |

A lot of people would still have pennies even if the government destroys as many as possible. Pennies would not be worth much. Maybe if you had a bunch of them in mint condition and by chance not many people had that particular date and mint mark of penny you could get lucky, but for the most part there's not much money to be made in pennies. |

Yes. They would. I don't have any doubt in my mind. And yea, 2 dollar bills would be nice to save. Pretty much any money at all that would be considered old. I mean, think about, 20 years later, people know that pennies are old. They start making 200 dollar bills, and random numbers I don't feel like typing. lol People could start selling them because there's only so many that are left now. There are a lot right now, don't get me wrong, I know. But there are less and less every year. Think about it. |

i believe so....... maybe we should treat pennies better than we do......... you never know.........but then again, maybe they will feel that are too many pennies made in the U.S. , so they won't be worth much. |

Pennies won't be worth anything in the future.
The British completely changed their currency system thirty or forty years ago and those old coins still aren't worth anything.
Chances are you'll never live long enough to see the coins appreciate in value to the collectible status |

of course they will be worth more than one cent eventually. pennies that are really old right now are worth more than a penny. the same holds for nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars, dollar coins, and even older versions of paper notes. |
