Is advertising on the top ten search engines the best way?

I think the closest way to autopilot is paper clip ads and google ad words on the top ten search engines cause its 24 hours sales if theres a better cheaper way please let me know.

PPC can be either extremely powerful or extremely damaging depending on if you know how to use it.

I agree with what another person said earlier that you only need to submit your site to the top 3 search engines (yahoo, google, msn), all others are not very effective. There are plenty of free ways to advertise online. Since these are free ways, you have to put some time into it for them to be effective. the reason most people think they arent effective is because they only put like 10 minutes into it. Here are some quick ways:

1. Google Competitor's Website - Google your competitor's domain and keywords and see which sites are referring them. Then you can post comments or links onto those same sites to gain some free traffic.

2. Link Exchange - Find other sites that are similar to yours and ask them if they want to exchange links with you. It helps out both sites because it doesnt cost either any money.

3. SIGNATURE LINKS - You can always use these to your advantage. If you are a member of a forum or you send lots of email, you can use this very effectively.

First of all, it's pay per click - not paper clip.

Second, there are only 3 top search engines: Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Anyone telling you otherwise is ignorant and completely wrong

Third, when you do PPC advertising, it is not "autopilot" - not unless you have millions to spend. If you don't watch your advertising, you blow your budget in 1 week.

If you are trying to make money - it's going to take money. There's no "cheaper" way to market any website. You can do a TON of word of mouth to promote your site, but that's as free as it gets.

Some free press releases, Craigslist, etc are OK to supplement your advertising/marketing - but not to rely upon.

If your willing to pay money and risk a ROI thats leaves you in the negative than yes. It obviously can work, but I think most people just lose money. Try advertising for free. Here's a site with some good tips and tricks. Its free too!

Depends; most people find internet ads annoying and ignore them. If you decide to go this route, the ad has to be eye catching.
