Okay, I'm 40 this year, so I am old. I am old enough to remember Buster Brown shoes and the Buster Brown commercials.

A friend and I were having a debate over Buster Brown's dog's name. I say the dog's name was "Tie," as in "tie your shoe;" my friend says the dog's name was "Tige," short for "Tiger."

I had always assumed that Buster Brown said in his little rhyme, "Hi, I'm Buster Brown, I live in a shoe! That's my dog Tie, he lives there, too!" It would make sense that the dog's name is Tie, since they were selling shoes.

So, was Buster Brown's dog's name "Tie" or "Tige?" A bet of dinner is riding on this, so do I have to pay up, or does my friend have to pay up?
