Is it illegal to say i belong to a fake company?
i'm a graphic designer and have been doing freelancing once in a while... at the moment i only offer my service to family and friends... but for some time... i'm thinking of advertising my service and be more serious about freelancing... but to make it sound better, i thought about mentioning in these ad that i am from this company 'A' which is totally made up... is it wrong to do that? should i just say that i am just a part time freelancer instead?
it sounds like you just want to make up a name for your company, there is nothing wrong with that. That is what everybody does. IE. Anise Designs---or computer graghics, which is also you.because you are the company.

You can't claim to work for a real company when you don't. However, you can invent your own company name. Just don't claim it's "incorporated" or anything like that.

If someone hires your services based on somethign you knowning lied about.... then you are guilty of fraud and can be sued, fined and/or imprisoned. However, there is nothing illegal about creating your own company and working under that name.

Even though you are only 14 do down and get a business license which will only cost you $35 or so. Create your own business name and do yourself and your customers right.
Make yourself legal and you'll feel much better about yourself and have the courage and gumption to really do a lot more work for others for pay.
You can learn pretty much all you need to know about small business by calling the Better Business Bureau who has free classes and information concerning everything from marketing yourself to taxes.
If you are serious about wanting to do this freelance for money and not just for free for family and friends, do it right.

There are definately ethics questions here, but I don't know about illegal. People use false advertising all the time. It is most certainly illegal to present yourself as an officer of a company.

Do not lie. What if someone wishes to call this fake company to check out your work and get a reference? Then you are caught in a lie and may lose a really great opportunity because you were dishonest. Create your own company name, list your name below and list your title as "Freelance Graphic Designer" with your contact information. This way you are your own company. No lie involved and you look industrious and ambitious.
