Is it illegal to write on money notes?
Is it illegal to write on £5,£10 and £20 notes such as a web address, so long as it doesn't go over the queen's face? Additional Details I've done some research and it says it's not illegal so long as it doesn't render the note useless.
I do believe that it is illegal ... enforced? I doubt it. However, if you can't treat money with respect, it probably won't respect you.

Many people believe that it is - but in reality the only laws governing the defacing of currency in the U.S. have been written specifically to prevent the alteration of currency for the purposes of representing said currency for other than it's original face value, or otherwise rendering such currency unreadable (think scanners / atms / etc.)
The most relevant areas of the note (to which this would apply) are the dollar denomination, written denomination, serial number, character, or other elements recognizable and specific to that particular currency's denomination.
