No way! Especially if you are young, in college, or not making a grip of money. My roommate and I found an awesome dining room table and chairs for 40 bucks. We also found a couch in really good condition for our new place for 50 bucks. There's no shame in that game. Who has to know? |

no. if it were there wouldn't be so many people doing it. it's a weekend hobby where i live. the women get stuck driving around and the men get drunk. then we go blow a hundred bucks a weekend on christmas decorations and antique stem ware. |

No. The world would be a better place if more people bought used items instead of feeding the corporate monstrosities that are killing the environment. |

No way, and sometimes you can find the best stuff at a yard sale. No one would ever know but you where it came from. |

No way. Some of my greatest finds have been at yardsales. Sometimes the people do not know the treasures they are selling are actually worth a lot of money, and I have gotten some very antique expenseive stuff for change so no it is not trashy |

You can find good bargains on used items. I don't think it's trashy. |

One man's trash is another man's treasure (and if you find the right trash you may find big treasure $) |

Not if it's useful stuff. Don't buy clutter. Sometimes higher end stuff even! People won't know where your stuff came from and you'll save $$$. |

You should watch the Antiques Roadshow and see the successes on it. If you're so succesful, then you can tell anyone who calls you trashy to kiss your $3000 figurine owning ***. |

no it is not trashy, a lot of people put things out and have no idea of what the real value of the item is. |

No.. it's merely a way of getting things for less. If I buy something that I end up not needing, why not sell it? |

I've seen some pretty nice stuff at yardsales....it all depends on what you're using the stuff for and where the yardsale is.
I mean if you're looking for clothes just to work outside in...woot for yardsales!
If you're looking for collectables...more woot! |

only if you buy junk you dont need, its not trashy when the painting or figurine you bought for three dollars turns out to be worth five million on the antique road show. |

If it is I'll take trashy any day. I come from a yard sale family. We all have homes full of beautiful antiques and collectibles and art - as well as saving a fortune on books, kitchen wares and other household items . I have a safety box full of jewelry, including gold and precious stones, and we all make extra money selling stuff on ebay.
There are some yard sale items I would consider it trashy to buy, like undergarments, any partially used food and makeup products, personal care items. I have seen vibrators and kinky lingerie for sale at yard sales, no lie!
The trashy is actually more about the seller. I was at a yard sale last summer and there was a really nice stainless steel cigar style waste can, looked like a Sonoma Williams item...It would have been perfect for the bathroom at the gallery where I was working. I stepped on the lever to see if it worked, and the can was totally full of really old kitchen waste! Now THAT was trashy. I walked out on that sale in total disgust! |

No its cost saving. SAVE SAVE SAVE and you'll see the zero's in your bank account accumulate. |

The first rule in a successful life is to ignore the millions of critics--either on this questions or a hoard of others LOL
I once bought an old book at a garage sale for 25 cents and today it is worth over $500.00.
My wife's favorite plaque is a painted picture of Jesus on marble--I picked it up at a yard sale for $2.00.
TRASHY? or CLASSY? Who cares...... |

Absolutely NOT. It is never trashy to save money for the same thing you would buy at the store for far far less. I go garage saleing all the time and love it. I find bargains llike the computer table I am using now that is glass and metal, for 10 bucks! Not a thing in the world wrong with it except the glass needed cleaning. What a deal! I know the people paid at least 150 dollars for it, as I had seen it at a retail furniture store! Yard sales are the best. Nana |

Why would it be? You can get some really good stuff. Most of it is crap, but you can really luck out. However, estate sales tend to have nicer stuff. |

Not to me, I like going to yard sales, never know what you might find. One mans trash is another ones treasure. |

Heck no! If it were, would eBay be the massive success that it is today? Used doesn't mean useless... I've found tons of bargains at yard sales, some of which was extremely collectible and worth FAR more than I paid. More often than not, though, I found something that I needed and the seller got rid of something that they didn't and got a couple of bucks in their pocket for doing me a favor.
Check out yard sale listings at www.craigslist.com - they have a bunch of different areas to get one closer to you and it's free! That and they have a ton of stuff for sale from people near you. |

Hell NO!! tHERE ARE MANY VALUABLE ITEMS SOLD AT YARD SALES FOR PENNIES. Did you hear about the old Elvis album picked up at a yard sale for 50 cents, then sold at auction for $28,000. I do believe it is taking advantage of the clueless owner |
|

OK yeah well whatever
|
It's not trashy, unless you give the stuff as a gift and try to pass it off like you just bought it at Macy's...
That said, I have bought some brand-new stuff at yard sales that maybe they got it home and it didn't fit and they lost the receipt, or didn't feel like returning it or whatever. |
