Actually EBAY has just reduced their fees (at least the Listing fee portion)....its really hard to find a better deal than EBAY because they get all the traffic, which has more to do with getting higher bids than anything. |

Gumtree lets you sell items, although it is not an auctions site. It lets you post your advert for free and you can renew it every 7 days if it has not sold. There is also the opportunity to swap your item for something you do want/need. |

There are a couple (eBid, etc.), but they have very poor coverage and not many people use them.
It depends what you mean by 'very expensive', though. Where else, other than eBay, can you advertise worldwide for only a few quid? |

Here is a good list of other online trading marketplaces. Not all have an auction platform, many just have fixed prices.

ebay doesn't charge a few quid, they take food out of my childrens mouths , and all sites are world wide, any way i don't want to advertise world wide, so why should i have to pay for it, entry fee's fine but where does it come off takeing money on point of sale, they get more profit than i do, and you of course, who do u think pays for it. |

Why not try a different approach to selling and marketing. If you cannot grow with ebay then you have to find another way. Ebay is a business not a friend. |

It depends what you're selling. I have had good success with Amazon Marketplace for anything electrical (as well as cds/dvds/books etc).
However, try using eBid for anything else.
Auction Alfie has a useful list of sites for you http://www.auctionalfie.com/best-auction-websites.html |

Sell your stuff on MarketWall:
http://marketwall.com/
It's not an auction, but it's free to post a listing and you can sell to people that live near you so you won't need to worry about P&P. |
