Is this real or just a SEO scam?
A company called submitplus.com claims for $699 a year, they guarantee placement in the top 10 positions( first page) of Yahoo, Google, or MSN. (it depends on your keywords). Also top 10 results in secondary search engines. Is this even possible for that price or complete BS. Your thoughts please.

It will be for very obscure keywords!

Think about - 20 sites on the first page - many of them super sites - hundreds of millions of sites all wanting to be on the front page?

Get them to put into writing which keywords and which search engines before you part with any money.

They seem to be using standard seo processes but just don't expect miracles!

Beware of gateway pages etc - they will get you banned.

Complete BS. Anyone who claims they can "guarantee" top 10 placement in all search engines is nothing but a liar. I would run as fast from that company.

As top Google software engineer Matt Cutts said in a blog post about guaranteed top 10 listing http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/seo-mistakes-spam-email-guarantees/ , "you would have to be on crack to believe all guarantees in spam emails about SEO.” Even not spam mails

Hi.

My main career is SEO and web development and have worked on it on various levels since early 2000.

It doesn't matter how much money you spend, there's no way for anyone to guarantee any top 10 rating on any major search engine. I've helped hundreds of companies get listed on the first two pages of Google, Yahoo, Hotbot, etc but there's never a guarantee involved except for the guarantee that their rankings will drastically improve.

Any company who claims they can guarantee a top 10 is actually going against Google's webmaster TOS that clearly states companies cannot make this guarantee.

$699 a year is pretty reasonable though, depending on the plan and the client I'm anywhere from $400-$1200 a year.

Don't go with them though, obviously they're not using proper methods to submit your web site if they don't know they're breaking the rules.

Ask them to start work now; and tell them that you'll pay at the end of the year.. or ask them to work for $58.25 every month (699/12)

In this way, they can't cheat you... :)

Hi,

I would check to see if they did already jobs like that. See their preivous work first.

Complete BS.

No one can guarantee placement in the top 10 positions for any competitive search.

If the keyword is 'green penguin' then you can be pretty sure that putting it in your title, mentioning 'green penguine' a few times on the page and getting some inbound links with 'green penguine' as the anchor text will put you at the top. But that's because there is no effective competition. For a competitive keyword it's a whole different ball game and to get to near top for the very competitive terms like 'poker' would cost tens of thousands of dollars.

There is one guarantee though and that is if you see that kind of claim in a sales pitch it's a scam :)

Unfortuantely, its a scam.

On the off chance that these guys actually provide a service, I would find out what the popularity of the keywords they would be optimizing. Will the site target "car insurance"? Definitely not. But, it might target "car insurance rates nashua nh." If that's your target market, try SEO yourself and you might be surprised that you can appear on such terms. However, there are far fewer searches for the latter, as you can imagine.

Good luck!

It is and it isn't. Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc all allow for people to pay to have their site come up at the top. This is often under the featured listings section which shows up before the actual search results.

If you do not check a company before entering into a transaction, you could lose your money, time and credibility. Some widely used resources are the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org)and the national fraud center (www.fraud.org). You can find more detailed information about a company at http://www.pcworkathome.net/scamcheck.html

It is a scam. Nobody can guarantee top placement without creating a bunch of spam, doorway pages and shady techniques. The problem is that, when the search engines finally catch on, your site will be blacklisted and gone forever.

There are honest, ethical search engine techniques that you can do to virtually guarantee top ten placement for free. It does take time (months at least) but you can ensure that your site will be there for many years to come.

Spend a few hours searching for and reading up on "Search Engine Optimization" and "SEO". Or, pay someone to do your search engine optimization for you but know that, if they guarantee anything, they are doing something shady.

It is sort of a Catch 22. The people that do it right can't guarantee anything; the ones who guarantee stuff can't do it right.
