Here are a few tips to prevent being scammed:
1) Only buy from someone who is a professional in the field and actually uses the product or system themself
2). Do NOT buy products that promise to make you rich overnight or make you X dollars in X days and then tell you "your results may vary" That's because realistically your results depend on what YOU DO.
3) Buy based on the product's ability to get results - check out the product's testimonials. Check with people that have actually used it to make money.
Basically, to make money on the internet you need 3 things:
1) Your product: digital:(eBook, video) or physical (your widget) that enhances someones life or solves a problem
2) Your Offer - you must desribe your product so that it moves the prospect to purchase your product.
3) Traffic - people to see your ad/offer
this can be free (through the search engines) or paid (banner ads, Pay Per Click Ads, etc) or from your mailing list (Please do NOT SPAM people)
There are many ways to accomplish this, too many to mention but yes it is possible to make money on the internet.
