Have you looked at Pay Per Click Advertising with Google, Yahoo, Microsoft. I always appreciated that you could measure this sort of stuff but only recently understood just how well it can work if you choose the right keywords, get the best value positions and use right text on ads. What are you currently doing? Is it working at all? Sounds harsh but reviewing your analytics can tell you most anything you need to know.

How is your content on the site? Is it updated, interesting, unique?

Are you advertising online and/or off? Are you utilizing as many SEO techniques as you could be? Can you afford to put together a PPC campaign with the major search engines?

Depending on what you are and are not doing a lot can be accomplished. It may take some simple steps like updating content regularly, sending newsletters and press releases, taking advantage of viral marketing, and maintaining a strictly "white hat" site. It may also be necessary to revamp navigation, reduce loading time, or even develop a completely new site that is user friendly.

I notice that you posted in the SEO section of yahoo answers. You post that you are a distressed company in the brewery industry.

If the company is distressed there mau be more immediate concerns than SEO issues.

SEO falls in the category of "acquiring new prospects" part of the marketing funnel.

If you are distressed you probably need to focus on getting qualified leads and sales rather than SEO or web development.

A more immediate concern would be to quickly assess how you became "distressed" and fix that problem first.

Jay Abraham says there are 3 ways to make money. 1) Get more customers, 2) Increase the amount of each sale per client 3) increase the frequency of purchases. Beyond that you want to increase the lifetime of the customer.

Your question focuses on method 1 - get more customers.

I think right now you need to focus on 2 and 3 by going to your current customer database and reactivating them. Your most direct way would likely be to send them a sales letter and making them a special offer to generate some immediate income.

Be honest - call it a distressed company sale. Make them a killer one time offer. They already know you and your product and so they are a more immediate source of revenue than getting more customer/prospects through SEO.

Go to Jay abraham's site and grab the first chapter of his book. He has many valuable strategies that you could use.

Hope this helps
Wayne

The market strategies for one industry may not be transferrable to that of another industry, like brewing. Unless you have transportation logistics in place or a mail order catalog where people could by your products, it is likely (without further information) that your revenues are localized.

Are you advertised locally? Do you go to Chamber of Commerce events? How long have you been in business? What makes your brew a better choice than what can be bought in bulk at Costco? Using a web-based strategy, like pay-per-click advertising may not work if you're solely a brick-and-mortar (have a physical store front) brewery. Do you have a customer newsletter? Do you have repeat customers, if so, how often do they buy from you? Do you supply local bars and restaurants?
