angelalee76 | Most efficient way to market a nursing home....? |
I am looking for new marketing ideas for a senior living center. Any Ideas?..
Thanks for the input!.. Additional Details Well, we are connected to a nursing home which has already been established, so we have that going for us. Our main problem is that this is very "high class" for our area. We are connected but away from the nursing home, and the problem is that if they get to the point to where they cant walk anymore and are wheelchair bound then we send them upstairs, we cannot have them here.
65+
full apartments
*washer/dryer
*activities offered everyday
*whilpool baths
*laundry service
*24 hour on site nurses and RN
*cable/telephone inc.
So we are pretty much looking for healthy seniors, maybe whom just cannot take care of their home anymore and maybe just need someone there "just incase". |

Keep it "youthful." Seniors don't like to be referred to as ailing and old. They like being around others who are youthful or at least think youthful. Upbeat music, vibrant colors....just anything that will bring up the momemtum (heartbeat). |

Market to your local hospitals, get to know the social workers, and discharge planners. Second reputation for the highest level of care. The nose for tours is the telling tale. Odor will turn people off immediately. You need excellent housekeeping. Something you can brag about. Local health fairs. Get involved in charity work like the Memory walk. Suff like that.

Free is one of my favorite words / concepts. Perhaps you could find a way to create buzz around your living center. Maybe Oprah could drop by, or John Travolta might lend his talents for a one night only appearance. Or perhaps you could leak the thought to the press that your particular senior living center is entertaining opening an attached child care center or animal rescue center, and see if this doesn't gain you points (and actually do it!). Another idea might be requiring activities of the residents, like reading to children, teaching music lessons, letting residents lead and teach skills they honed and developed over their lifetime, and offer their collective wisdom to the public at cut throat rates. Finally, offer speed dating services through your organization, and perhaps the occasional nursing home swap with one on the opposite coast you are on, so your people can a lifestyle of the rich and famous too!! THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX ! |

I like all your answers... but I'm not sure any of them are really going to give you the lift you need. You might consider doing some low cost online advertising.
Some of you are going to say "whoa cowboy... those SENIORS aren't looking on-line." Your right, but in my experience, it's not the SENIORS that are deciding it's time to move. It's their younger family members helping them make the decision.
Consider some local internet advertising on Google and Yahoo. You might be suprised at how many people a day are actually looking for your services.
Good Luck...

Depends, are you a senior home marketing to seniors who are making their own decisions concerning placement, or are you marketing to their children who must make the placement decision for them. The two markets are WORLDS apart and the approach would of course be different. I'd be glad to help you if you can give more information. I LOVE a marketing challenge and can usually think outside the box quickly. Post more info and I'll check back.
Sounds nice. I would suggest getting jackets or shirts like a team for the elders that already live there. Take them out as a group to do things that interest them. If it is something they want to do, so will others their age. They will begin to see the jackets together and all of the fun they are having. It's called branding your clients. Those who already live there are your best marketing tool. Offer them an incentive to invite a friend for a party to show the place off. Divert some of your advertising budget to a reward fund and to pay for the jackets of shirts. It's great that there are lots of activities there, but you need to get these clients out in the public and make sure they are in high traffic locations for seniors and that they are properly marked with your brand. Just think, your clients will love you for it, and it is a smart use of a portion of your advertising budget. |

Get involved in your local chamber of commerce. Might also be worth talking to someone at your local TV station. They have advertising research professionals that know what demographics tend to watch what shows. Run an ad during peak hours for senior viewership. I would also suggest holding an open house for people to come see the place before the need arises. |
