You dont have to... but no doubt the firm will take a dim view of this and say your not a team player etc etc ....I told my company I didnt even want my name mentioned - too many mad stalkers out there.. |

They can just leave a blank space near your name that says "photo not available".
Now that I think about it, I have seen some websites where they list the staff and some people have photos and some just dont (even without the "photo not available" notice) and the webpage looks just fine. |

depends maybe on your age and rank in the firm ?
is it small and personal ?
( i'm guessing yes.....)
so is this a new website , even first time for the company ?
i guess if your boss is a good guy and trying to make a success of the business........he just wants to potray the ' feel and personality ' of the firm ?
nothing works without people driving it !!
so faces do count !
but it is your call.......but you need to consider the impact of refusal.
say yes......whats the problem ?
just shy.......or worried about something ?
but say no.....and in an unreasonable way; you could annoy the boss !
normally they will expect co-operation,at any level
but exceptions can be made, if you put your point across...but logially and in a cool rational way.......you need a good reason ?
otherwise, you could maybe 'hide' yourself somewhere in a group photo....like only half a head showing, behind someone else ??
but if you dont see the firm or the job as your future; especiallly short term even.......then do say no
but if its where you wanna be........i think you should put yourself in the bosses shoes and think ( or ask him!" ) why ?
hope it helps........i dont like photos either
but never stopped me........just took a ' back seat / hidden ' somewhere

can you discuss this matter with him in a friendly way and explain that you don't want to launch your photo on the web. |

no he cant, same way a school or organisation cannot print your childs photo without permission from you in writing |

No can't make you do this, but you have to balance it against being "a good corporate citizen". However, if you leave the company do you still want your picture advertising them? Has he asked you to sign a release allowing the use of your image (your face is your property after all) |

What do you mean by that...is there a law that compels him to obey your requests? Probably not. Typically, in a workplace you follow orders, you do not give them. Unless you are the honcho. Why do you not want your picture there? Explain to him what the problem is and perhaps he will go along with your line of reasoning. |
