sales calls are a numbers game - the more you hit the more chance of finding interest. dont waste time on people who arent interested as they wont thank you for it.

hmmmmmmmmmmm i worked in telesales and my famous line would be "i'm sorry i haven't offered anything to you so what is it you're not interested in?" - they either put the phone down or admire you for your cheek and you win the sale!
You have nothing to loose as they've said not interested anyway!
It also depends what your company name is or how you approach them. |

From a professional point of view and a fellow colleague, you should just really thank the person for their time and closed the call.
I am a marketer myself and I make cold calls. Depending on what you are trying to sell ( whether it be tangible or intangible article like a service) you may want to ask the person if you can have an e-mail address so they can receive possible notices about the product or service. Or you could offer the potential client a trial offer of what you are selling ( of course this would have to be approved by upper management of the company you are working for if it's not yourself).
When I can not convince people of the services I offer, I allow them a free trial ( free credit report, of skip trace, or I eliminate a charge). It's all to get them to try the service and convince them that I am just as good as the others.
Of course you should make sure before you start that you have targeted your potential client correctly ( a little research may help if you don't use a data base).
You have to convince the customer that you are there to help them, not sell. They need you, your service, your article and your company. What are the features and benefits of what you are selling? Take a piece of paper and draw a line down the center... on one side right down the features and on the other the benefits. Next write yourself a little script to say, practice before making the call, and then use it during the call. You will see that sooner or later you won't need the script.
If these tips don't help... then the sale was not ment to be. Thank them and close the call. |

I run a small business and I am plagued by cold calls. If the caller carries on trying to sell to me after I've said I'm not interested I get very annoyed and rude to the caller and slam the phone down. You should respect that a person is not interested and end the call.
You do not have a right to demand that someone should listen to what you have to say. You are intruding into the life of, and wasting the time of the person you call. |

Better off to just say "ok thank you sir" and hang up if it is me, unless you want to hear a 15 minute endless string of profanity followed by "let me speak to your supervisor". |

well..i know it might make you feel that you lost a customer but remember that those are the ones that make you actually strong so you should not get down..Just think of it as if they are not really saying NO to you but saying NOT NOW because it might not be right time for them financially or have problems or perhaps are in situations that they cant deal with your call at that time. So i would just say stay calm and politely just thank them for their time and hang up!! |
