Okay, here goes: and please remember these are just MY opinions and criticism and nothing more.
I think that the idea of placing your logo on different treatments on the idex page is a good idea but it fails in its execution. I would rather see actual examples and not so much of the "marching ants". A little animation goes a long way.
I'd move the "who we are" from the index page to the "management" page and rename that "about us". That way, you can incorporate all the history, vision, management and such.
The "product gallery" link does not work on the index page; neither does the "looking for ideas." Remember, you work in the visual medium. I want to see examples of your work.
Testimonials are great but they seem lost in their own category. There is no indication of what you have done for these people. How do visitors know these are real? In other words, show what you've done. That speaks volumes.
When I click on the "solutions" tab, I'm taken to what I think is actual examples. But, the links don't work.
I like the "quote" area. Ask for the business.
Is this a test site? Why is your title "movie2" rather than your company name? I'm assuming you want people searching for sign producers in Michigan to find you when they do a Google or Yahoo search, right?
Finally, it appears that someone got a hold of or recently learned the flash environment. There's evidence of it everywhere! You're not MTV - animation in a B2B environment should be used sparingly. If there is no purpose to using animation, don't use it. It is not required. Also, please remember your audience. They need to know that you can design and produce professional signage for their business. |

Quick comments (I visited the site for like 5 min):
1) Your home page has animations that are too good. As in, I am not interested in reading the plain, boring, just sitting there text on the bottom. Use the animations so that I want to read what your site is about, not be lost in them.
2) In my view of the page, information seemed squeezed into one area of the page (esp. on top). I generally frown upon white backgrounds as no matter what you do, the webpage seems to have empty space.
3) On the contact us form, you have a "blank" as your default value for the drop downs. This is not good practice. You should, by default have one official value. If you don't want something preselected, don't leave it blank. It is better practice to have it say "Choose one from below" and if they select "choose one from below" instead of what they were supposed to choose, then return an error or think of it as the default value.
4) I would add more "professional design" cheats. Things still look amateurish. Of these, there are several. Instead of cut/square corners, maybe have curve corners (more interesting). Add some subtle drop-shadow and "lighting" effects. Have some symmetry in your boxes and if things are not symmetrical, use it for emphasis. Contrast colors better. Make the page look like it is layered into a whole, not choppy sections.

If you are a one city operation, the look and feel is good, but the write up make me think I could walk into an office location in Portland Maine or Portland Oregon. If the national / international aspect of you business is mail order, make that clear.
Some of the technical stuff needs to be smoothed out, but that type of trouble shooting is up to you. |
