I have an embroidery and sewing business and really need help with a catchy name, I do custom embroidery on towels, shirt logos and I also have stock made up for people to buy in sets.

Naming a company is probably one of the most difficult things to do. In my simple mind, there's a few directions you can go:
1. Name the company after what you do. There are lots of suggestions before me like this (a stitch in time, for example). This can be a very good way to go, but it's also very hard to be original (chances are someone has already taken the name, and you won't be able to legally use it). It's also hard, because you end up sounding cutesy-wootsy. Not impossible, though. Look at IBM (started out as International Business Machines). The name was exactly what they are.
2. You can name your company with an obtuse or off-centre name. Look at Yahoo! ... The name itself has nothing to do with the Internet, but they built their brand. Look at Amazon. I know there's a connection between the word amazon and books, but I'm not sure what that connection is... nor does it matter anymore. Here is where you could put on a real creative hat and come up with something catchy, or weird, or funny, or thought provoking (depending one what you feel comfortable with).
3. Another direction, is to go for the personal / family way... So you could use your name, and aim for the classy. Something like "Mochaponch Quality Embroidery" (I know Mochaponch isn't your name, it's your nickname ... you'd obviously want to use your name).
Really, your name is SO important, and on the other hand, it's not that important. What's important is that you have a quality product, and people will remember you.

Sounds like you are marketing to corporate America, (as well as others) companies wanting their "customized" logos or Monograms on everything from golf towels to polo shirts?
I agree with another answer...more information would be better....but I would go with something that says how "customized" your work is....and take the name "Julie" out of it because it sounds like small potatoes uless your target is small spuds....define your Target Audience first, work on the name and message second.

Could you elaborate a bit on the target market? I don't think you gave us enough information.
Names that play on the words "stitch" or "needle", etc are clever but may appear more targeted to consumers and not appropriate to corporate sales. Something to keep in mind if your target market is businesses. |

Make sure the name you choose isn't already taken locally and is legal for national use. I would go with something like "IN STITCHES," "YOUnique Boutique," or "Sew Delightful." |
