Hi,
I am a Realtor and most of my business comes from direct sales (telemarketing). I am looking for ways to increase sales. Internet marketing is not effective in our profession. Mass mailing is expensive and simply does not work for me, since I don't "specialize" in one particular area. Any out of the box ideas would be appreciated. |

direct marketing isn't too bad... try quantummail.com. send out postcards and flyers, etc. you can target certain areas, especially YOUR immediate area, for new listings.
second, setup a "circle of influence"... 50 good friends/coworkers/family you can periodically send out business cards, calendars, coupons, anything to keep you in their mind if someone asks for a realtor. also, handwritten, addressed envelopes work better for local mailings. good luck! |

I think this business is really limited since most people want to do business w/ people they have had some kind of personal contact with. You can try going to loan officers and they do the same , so if they need a realtor you can ask them to refer you and in return youll refer a loan back , or you can contact FSBO , they work great and if they do not want to work w/ a realtor you can refer them to your loan officers that you want to build a relationship, and if they decide to later go w/ a realtor then .....you get the idea. You say you don't "specialize" - that's a bad idea. One of the key factors in successful marketing is a clear message about why you're different / unique / better. One of the easiest and most believable ways to say that is by being a specialist. Look at any profession, the specialists earn more than the generalists. I think you should reconsider your positioning. It doesn't have to be geopgraphic speciality, it could be something else, like a profession - you only work with Doctors or self employed or investors or whatever. Or it could be situational specialty - you only work with young couples and first time buyers, or empty nesters trading down, or whatever. But the key is to identify a niche and become that specialist. It makes direct mail and many other media much more effective because you can target tightly, in both your message and your media buy.
