SEO: Should I Stay Away?
I saw a job posting with a freelance related website asking for help in regards to SEO. I made a personal phone call to the company looking for SEO. The owner wants his site to be found at the top of 5000 keywords.
I tried to explain to him each page should be broken into its very own sub-categories with each page having its own keyword or phrase and no more then four. I tried to explain to this guy that his home page should offer an eye catching opening statement. This leads visitors into the rest of the website using keyword phrases such as earrings, diamonds and etc.
The guy doesn't seem to understand where I am coming from. He seems like he might be a hard person to get along with.
Am I wasting mt time? He doesn't seem to understand the real meaning of SEO.
You shouldn't be taking clients to begin with. If you are as good as you think you are, you should own the sites yourself and do affiliate marketing.
Taking clients is just SEO Prostitution.

I would recommend that you stay away for that job. Clients like that will generally make your life miserable. Some ignorance can not be overcome.
Maybe he doesn't have a clear idea of what he wants to do. Try getting him to talk about the goals for his site and then explain how SEO can help him achieve those goals. If he just wants to throw as much traffic at it and doesn't care about it being targetted, then have him buy an add throw Adbrite on a Chinese site. LOT's of CHEAP, JUNK, traffic.

Its not worth the time and trouble. If he wants this, he will need to pay top dollar, as in way overpay. Even that amount of money isnt worth the trouble to me.
Anybody who knows SEO, knows it takes time to achieve search engine ranking. For my services I dont guarantee anything as far as top ranking, I guarantee targeted traffic to the site.
I would emphazise improving his content as well as SEO of his website. Even if he overpays to get you to do this, you can spend better time and energy finding better clients than wasting it on this person.

Stay away if he is not listening. It is ok that he does not understand. It is not ok that he is not interested in understanding your point.

If your early conversation with this individual was negative, why would you even want to work with them?

you are wasting your time, and wasting everyone elses time by asking this.
