This is good ebook about web promotion, especially free web promotion. Even it tell you how to promote your site without google! Murti, there are plenty of free website and SEO forums out there, just join a few and read what people are saying. There are tons of tips on how to promote your website out there.

There are some free ebooks if you look around, but you can't ask them questions. With a forum, at least if you don't understand what is said, you can ask and get clarification.

You may also want to check out some SEO blogs, there are always good tips in them as well.

You can simply submit your site to the major search engines.
Its totally free.

You can also bookmark you site, with that you'll have your back link and will be indexed by search engines.

If you got more time to spare you can do blog commenting, finding related site/niche to your blog.

And forum posting also, you can make your signature link to drive traffic to your site.

Post about your site everywhere. Make sure you hyperlink all your links, and if you can include anchor text with your hyperlinks. That will get you backlinks and if posted in the right places...traffic.
