You may set a reserve which is a minimum that the bidding must reach before you will sell, or you may start the bid at your minimum. If you do not do either of these things, then you are required to sell the item to the highest bidder even if it's less than you hoped for.
As for timing of payment vs. post, most auctioners specify in the auction that they will send the item once the payment has cleared. This means waiting until checks have cleared the bank or PayPal funds have posted to your account. |

Set your starting price at a price nearer to the value you have in mind. e.g dont start an item off at 99p if its worth £150.
Dont send anything out until you have recieved a cleared payment. |

You can put a reserve price and if no one bids past that your item is not sold. |

When you list the item to sell at auction to the highest bidder, you can set a secret reserve price. If you don't get a bid for at least that much, you will not have to sell the item. (eBay still gets paid their fees)
You can also list items at a fixed price (Buy It Now) and not take a chance on the auction format. |

For an extra fee, you can set a reserve (you define the minimum bid that require to sell the item -- if no one meets your reserve, then it is considered unsold; the reserve also shows up on the page when bidders look at it -- it won't tell them what it is, only "reserve not met").
Don't worry too much if it seems like the bidding is too low -- I've sold a lot of things on ebay and the bids usually don't heat up until the last day, in most cases not until the last hour. If a lot of people are watching your item, it will turn out better. |

no you can't retract your offer. you can set a reserve price up front and if that isnt reached you'll have to relist. how would the buyer pay you before you post them item? |

You can cancel an auction, or you can enter a reserve price that no one can see, but they know it hasn't been met yet |

You don't retract your offer if you are selling!
You should have set your reserve high enough to cover this happening!
If you don't get any bids or any above the reserve it wont sell and you keep it.
If you are bidding on something and decide to remove or retract that bid you can do.(certain ifs and buts read the conditions) |

The goal to listing on eBay is to incorporate all the costs of listing them item in with the starting bid price. If you want a certain dollar amount out of your item, the best bet is to research! Look at similar items and see what they have sold for.
Once you have listed your item on eBay, you are at the mercy of your bidders. eBay will allow you to cancel your auction up until the last 12 hours of the auction listing. Although this is not a great idea as many, expert, bidders wait to bid in the last few seconds of the auctions end.
It is also against eBay policy to see an item outside of eBay. Be careful with that. |

set the reserve price at the minimum what you want for the item........you always make sure you have payment before you post the item too. |

You have to set the price high enough so you don't get screwed.....you can use reserve pricing too, which means if you set the reserve at $100 if the bidding goes only to $50, you do not have to sell the item.
The buyers pays you and you send the item after it has been paid for. If they use Paypal and you don't sent it, chances are they will file and the money will be taken back from your account.
I am a seller so email me if you have any other questions - good luck! It's fun. |

Im pretty new to ebay and was wondering if i could ask you a question? Im listing an item that has 2 days left. My buy it now price is $70.00 but i have 1 bid at 50.00. What happens if noone bids more than my buy it now price? Would i have to sell it at the highest bid or do i get my buy it now price? And what do i need to do to get my buy it now price? I look forward to your helpful knowledge. Thanks donnamarie |
