I would say it depends what you are promoting. First of all, it is best to promote primarily your product or service more than yourself. If your qualifications help support and validate this product or service, this information is best to include, but again continue to focus on primarily promoting what you are offering as opposed to yourself.
It is generally best to be honest about who you are. People buy products and services from people they trust, and if you are using a false name, that doesn't put a tick in the trust box. Unless you can think of a specific reason that it would be non-beneficial for you to do so, it is best to be you in business!
Good luck... :-)

It all depends on you.
Did you get a "Business Name"?
A Business License?
Are you operating under a "Fictitous Business Name" and did you file for it through your City or County to reserve it for ONLY yourself? Small Fee.
Its best to consult with your local Chamber of Commerce or Business License Office.

I think it depends on what your home based business is and how you are promoting it. If you will be contacting people that already know you then you would want to use your name. If you are advertising to people you don't know or on the Internet you might just want to publish the business name and then introduce yourself after you have contact with potential customers.
