Should watchdogs be muzzled?
An advertising watchdog has banned the re-run of a 50s advert.
The slogan: Go to work on en egg.
I remember the posters. As giggly teenagers I and my friends found it hilarious, when it was displayed next to an advertisement for the local bus company. Slogan: It's better by bus.
It may surprise such watchdog organisations, but there are many people who can still think for themselves.

I noticed that story on the BBC news website. They might as well ban all adverts if that's how they think.Ban car adverts as some people may be killed whilst driving.Ban the tea adverts as somebody might scald themselves whilst making a cuppa. It's a mad world we live in........

Wutz it worth 2 ya?
No! Thats defeating they're purpose.

These watchdog organisations definitely take all the fun out of advertising. The best one has to be what they've done to alcohol advertising. Mind you, some adverts are so complicated these days, you wonder why the company bothered.

it may surprise you but there are many of us who can think for ourselves w/o watchdogs being muzzled..

nkellingley@btinternet.com
Pretty sad isn't it. There's a need for watchdogs - but they often go too far.

Protecting people's health is one thing - deciding exactly what is good for you is pretty hard though and always ends up with lunacy like this.

That is a negative Houston.... What would be the point. Their there to stop an intruder from entering something you are trying to protect when your unable to. However a warning should be posted. Enter at your own risk.....

Some watching is good. There is a lot of extreme crap out there that probably needs to be censored from the WRONG crowd's. From every crowd no?

However, I do think they get so tunnel vision and start to think so extreme , thats when they should be silenced. *cough* PETA *cough*

Everything needs a happy balance, But there is a time and place for everything to. I'm surprised that they havnt tried to censor cartoons yet, theres a bit of ambiguity in them.
