Should we boycott companies and corporations that advertise christmas-related products before December 1st?

MICHAEL D
No we should not boycott the companies. As it help the less well off spread the cost of Christmas

YES PLEASE. They make me so mad!

Absolutely!

Whilst I agree that it is annoying there are good reasons why it is done. More than anything else it is a response to market forces. Often families have to start budgeting and buying for Christmas further in advance than December. Therefore an advertiser may annoy you by reminding you Christmas is round the corner in October, but they are doing their job of reminding people to purchase or think of their products whilst Christmas shopping.

My idea as a sort of compromise is for advertisers to show a bit of originality. That is not to churn out the same old 'christmas favourites', but to get their message across without insulting their audiences intelligence!

it was one thing when they started nailing us at Thanksgiving time...but I was at Lowes just BEFORE Halloween and I could NOT believe that they had Christmas Trees up and shining away. Come On!! They were beautiful. It gave my heart a twinge of excitement.... but I wanted to look forward to seeing the kids coming to my house in their costumes. YES.... Boycot time!!! Right after Thanksgiving would be OK.
Funny thing.... Lowes pushed it on us and so it made me realize that I have plenty of time to find the best deals.... Didn't even consider buying anything Christmas related at L! They are screwing themselves outta sales! Been in there 2x's since and even overlooked the X'mas atmosphere that I guess they think they are psycologically forcing on us!

I Love Playing Games!
I think so. Its not even thanksgiving and stores are selling Christmas stuff. 8/10 of the stuff is Christmas stuff. The other 2 half's are selling thanksgiving stuff.

While I agree that there's too much advertising of just about everything these days, I have to say No, we should not boycott the companies who advertise Christmas items before December 1st.

Remember that many retailers don't turn a profit for the entire year until the day after Thanksgiving (which is a few days before the first). And it can take months of ads before enough interest is generated in an item or store to produce the sales volume necessary to turn that profit.

And without profits, companies go out of business. Without businesses, there are no jobs. Without jobs, people have no money (retail employees, shipping employees, advertising people, real estate lessors where the stores lease space, television and radio companies that get paid through advertising, factories that produce the goods sold). If ads don't run, people don't work, and a lack of economic growth will be the least of our problems.

Think economic Hindenburg.

If all else fails, we don't have to pay attention to the ads. But boycotting companies just because they want to do business, is just bad business.

In review, No.

I agree that Christmas is in your face earlier and earlier each year, but I am not so sure about banning companies/

Since I decided decades ago that Christmas was Christ's birthday, not mine or anybody else's, I quit commercializing Christmas at least 40 years ago, and I detest advertising or even the green and red color combination or Christmas lights or Christmas trees. My two kids had a hard time getting used to it initially, especially since their mother wasn't the same way, but, when it was their birthday and I bought them a present, like a new car on their 20th birthdays, they began to see the advantages to taking presents on their birthdays and letting Christ take presents on His. God Bless you.

No. I don't see why. It is just an ad.....you don't have to buy things until you are ready.

They are entitled to offer for sale what they like whenever they like so long as pratts will buy it who can blaim them.No one forces you to buy and most of us don't bother until the last week so what does it matter?
