I don't think you should stick with one theme because people will stupidly think you only throw one kind of party. Either divide your float into sections and have each section be a different theme (clown making balloon animals in one, couple dressed 50's style dancing swing in another, etc.) or just have a little of everything on your float all mixed together and have music playing that is appropriate for a kids party, like "Happy Birthday." You can get that song sung by many different artists, in different languages, etc. and have it looped.
Another idea would be to have your float look like a real kids party going on. Have a table in the middle of the float with a lot of kids sitting around it blowing out candles, eating cake, etc. Off in different areas of the float away from the table have them doing other things, like watching a puppet show, have a sheep or something in a pin like a petting zoo, etc. Make sure the kids know to act like they are having the time of their lives by laughing and smiling constantly. The key is to have your float exert LOTS of fun, playful energy.
Be sure to post your banner with contact info in as many places possible. |

How about a birthday cake-shaped bounce house on top of a trailer for your float? You'll need a banner sign as well.
Definitely print up at least a flyer or business card, if not a magnetic business card, with your URL and phone number and location and services on it. Have kids hand them out (with candy) at the parade.
Be creative -- just keep in mind "how can I best get the attention of the parade attendees, and what feature of my services should I focus on?" By the time that parade is over, you want every attendee to know your business is there and ready to serve them!
