do you sell products? offer 50% off any product with a service or vice versa
many salons don't have enough evening hours and appts are hard to get-offer "working girls specials" for evening appts.-open at noon that day and stay open til 9:00.

People love charity stories. You may want to find a women's shelter and offer free "make overs". Do it during a weekday and call your local media and invite them down to cover the story.

First of all, if you do like wedding hairdos then you should go around to any bridal shops in the area and talk to them and possibly leave some info/cards. Second offer specials to the local highschools for prop & homecoming, for example, for every group of 3 that comes in to get there hair done gets 10% off the price! Those types of things are VERY affordable. |

BEST... offer free or reduced services to your CURRENT customers for referrals! Your current clients are your BEST source of NEW clients - I don't know why EVERY stylist doesn't do this!
Example: If they send you a new client & they see you every 8 weeks for a year, that's 6+ cuts (+ other services)... at an average of $40 each... thats $240+. Isn't that worth a free $40 cut to the referring client?? |

I think the best way and the cheapest way to do is to do sponsors for tv shows or upcoming stars (actors or actresses) for free. tv shows or producers would always want to find the best deals and if you can find an upcoming show that you could give your services iin exchange for them to promote it, that would be great. Or you can find upcoming stars and build good relationships with them that way they give you credit when they do guestings or shows and its broadcasted nationwide. Also if you can offer free services to radio jocks and build good relationships with them in return promote your salon... that would be good too. And make sure that on bridal fairs and debut fairs you are always visible... make sure that you and your salon's name is everywhere.. so people will have your salons name on top of their mind. Eventually, it will pick up and everyone would go to your salon. |

Easy Peasy. I'll give you 4 the most CHEAPEST and virtually FREE ways to go about promoting a salon.
Create a blog on a blog site. Occasionally update the blog, and believe me traffic usually comes when you are talking about what you like to talk about. Since you have a salon, talk about hair or nails or whatever you are good at.
Next, Go on yahoo answers, and if someone is looking for a salon in your area, tell them all about it. Good way to get people to come, because other people will look at your answers.
Another thing to do is to go on forums and help out people or give you info to others that are looking for a salon.
And last but not least, online directories. Submit your site to online directories, especially ones like Yahoo and Google. |
