When you see a hot girl or a celeb advertising something does it actually make you want to buy it? It dosent do it for me. In fact, I may be checking the person out and not even hear what theyre selling. But, they continue to use sex to sell, what do you think? Effective or not? Or effective only for teenagers? |

It works just to extend to which it is done right.
For example, insurance is not the right product to be associated with sexy kittens. On the positive effect side is beer. Beer ads benefit from portraying bikini girls – good example are Coors’ ads – convey the message guys plus beer leads to guys plus girls. It works well for the segment of young guys who appreciate quantity more than quality. On the other hand, Britney albums sales go down the more she takes off; some of Maria Shrapova’s ads have negative impact on her image and on the product she advertises just because the photographer made her look too sluttish. It is all about the right audience, the right product and the right level of sexiness. |

The two most powerful words in marketing is "sex" and "free"
Both will get your attention every time. Then it's up to the product or service, based on their features and benefits to the viewer, to seal the deal.
A lousy product held up by a girl in a bikini will not sell, no matter how hot she appears.
Now, if your offer "free sex," you have a REAL WINNER!! |

Yes, it works, and if you think people lose interest in sex/sexually interesting pictures after the teen years, you have a lot to learn.
Can you imagine an underwear ad, with the underwear model being, shall we say -less than appealing?
It does depend on the audience you're attracting, and the product you're selling; I can't remember bank commercials or insurance commercials that use sex to sell, but anything oriented towards "fun", or improving your looks, like booze, travel, clothing, cosmetics, weight lifting, tanning, etc, will all use attractive people to sell their products. |

It draws attention and that's all they want. Babies and puppies do the same thing.
I might watch a pretty girl on a commercial from beginning to end, although the commercial doesn't interest me. IOW, it gets my attention. |

i don't think it sells like that, but if i walk by a hot girl and she smells good, i ask her what she is wearing and i buy it for my girlfriend. so be her smelling sexy, it sold the item. |
