If you reffer to ads which are parts of malware I would advice you to run a malware scan with Ad Aware or SpyBot Search and Destroy. Download them, update them and then run a full scan. It will remove any malware infections found like tracking cookies, ads or any other type of malware. Scan your computer with one at a time. |

no, it means you typed in your zip code at some point, and it was stored in cookies or something |

ads use your ip address to determine which city you live in |

Well it's not exactly great as you may now get loads of junk mail and other contact - although this depends on what sort of ad company you are referring to.
On the other hand this is only likely to be at worst a nuisance. We are only talking about an ad, here. You will be one of at least thousands and maybe millions. It's not like you have been singled out in order to ruin your life.
That wasn't supposed to sound harsh,by the way. It was intended to be re-assuring.
Hope the problem gets resolved for you. |

Yes.
It could be that you have spyware.
It could also be that someone you gave your name to sold it to someone else for advertising. |

If they only know your city, its not a big deal, they use your i.p. however, if they have your street address job company name, or telephone number, it could be bad. |
