Let's face it - cold calling is dead. Yet, most salespeople nowadays waste tremendous amounts of time cold calling for new business despite the fact that cold calling is an old, obsolete sales technique that no longer gets results in today's Information Age economy.
In so many areas of business and life in general, new and efficient methods have been accepted and embraced, but for some reason the sales management of most companies today continue to teach, endorse, and even force the practice of "cold calling" on their salespeople, despite the fact that cold calling no longer produces the sales results it did ten or twenty years ago, and in many cases produces no results at all, other than lost sales, high salesperson turnover, and even financial bankruptcy! |

Sales is still a numbers game. The more people you call, the more leads you will get. Offline, with a list of numbers and smooth sales patter, and online, with a web site sales page and constant freebie offering and upsell.
It's still a numbers game.
It's what you do with the leads afterwards that counts : you have to know which ones to nurture, and which to discard. It is going to take many contacts with leads before they convert.
Why else do online marketers put so much energy into acquiring a list, selling to that list, and then repeat selling to existing customers?
They learned it from the real world of phone calls, touching base, targets, and the hard sell.
Still, both sides of the digital divide could learn from each other, of more of us took the time.
Best,
Guy |

Taking an interest in the person and exploring what they are needing is very important. Also giving something away for free works well too.

yes
First some one took the strain of calling us in the first place?
let us study his motivational factor to make this call
just to know about the product or service
just to check it out if the company exist
just to make sure of the price
just to see what his competitors are up to
IN ALL THE ABOVE CASES it is his curiosity....fix a meeting with him and encourage him, take interest in this customer
if he is not the purchaser of your products ,he may be enquiring for his friend
so you will take a lead out of this |

There's really no right or wrong answer to this question. For some it's still an effective method and for some it's not.
The only to find out is to try it out yourself and then measure your results. That's the only way you'll know. If you find that it's not working for you then you need to either improve your method or find additional ways to generate leads.
- Look at how similar businesses in your area are marketing their services.
- Join trade groups, subscribe to industry magazines, groups, online forums and find out ideas and then try them yourself.
Always keep in mind your chain of thought makes a big difference. Ask the right questions and you're bound to find the right answers. |

cold calls work, if...you can Find a warm prospect that needs the product or service and be brief and low key in your approach.
it helps if your product or service should sell itself by solving a problem or need.
I prefer to sell a service that my customers have to buy in order to complete their project.
If you do not have to convince the customer of need for your product or service... cold calls are allot more effective.
80/20 Consider this In most cases 80 percent of your business comes from 20 percent of your customers. Work on building and perserving that 20 percent. And cold calling should be done during down time.
remember to show up on time, do the job right and clean up any loose ends.... |

cold calling will definitely work provided the caller follow the rules.
imagine sombody calling and saying "Sir goodmorning I am calling from ***** Bank, Do you want to apply for a creditcard" Now you tell me what should be my instant reply - Yes ofcourse it will be a big - "NO". |
