A few free resources – check out the sources box for links:
1) Create a blog pertaining to your field
2) Use Yahoo! Local & Yahoo! Groups – Be sure to read the TOS for each one!
3) Write articles pertaining to your field and/or expertise.
4) Advertise on Craiglist
Also, consider signing up for an affiliate program. These programs enable you to advertise on other's sites (your affiliates) and once a sale is made to you, your affiliates & the program are paid a commission.

Respectfully... you're asking the wrong question.
To me, if it's "unique" then it's either
- new and un-proven and therefore likely to fail
or
- been tried before and it did fail, so nobody does it anymore
Either way... I suspect that's not what you want.
I would recommend you ask "what are some proven, locked in guaranteed ways to advertise that all I have to do is follow the recipe and I'm sure to get big sales?"
Isn't that a better question?

p.s. don't confuse the 3 aspects of marketing, this is a common mistake. They are: message, media, market. You need to get all 3 right or your ads won't work.
So... you mentions classified ads, flyers - those are media.
But what was your message? And who is your market?
Are you blaming the media for failure, when truth is, you don't know for sure if your message or market is valid? |

Print out newsletters and hand deliver them to neighbors around. Express in your marketing why your product is differentiated from the other similar products in the market. Then have a promotion in the newsletter. Everyone that e-mails your specific account may receive one of the products as a "prize". Eat the cost on that product, and capture your target's addresses. A great way for a drip campaign.
Also, cross-promote in your newsletter. You may be able to pick up a few advertisers to offset the cost of the newsletter. |
