I think many years ago when it opened, it stayed open from 7am to 11pm. Back in the days, that was a long time. I think most stores opened at 8 or 9am and closed at 5 or 5:30 pm. So back then 7-11's were really popular and there were no 24 hour stores.
I know, times have changed, but the store name never has. I guess they should rename it 24-7 huh? |

40 years ago, when the chain was in its infancy, they opened at 7am and closed at 11pm, which was unique at the time.
They were the original "convenience store chain"...
It also is a cute backhanded reference to the game of craps.

7/11 was actually named after a woman in the late 70s.She was the pioneer of a wildlife committee.Dedicated and resourceful she later married a rich man whom later divorced on the 7th July barely 1yr into the marriage.depressed she later left the country and settled down in Australia. |
