Don't worry about anything.. they describe everything to you during training. Believe me, I'm a cashier and wal-mart dept. managers and staff don't leave you stranded. They will guide you through anything and more than likely they'll stick around with you and make sure everything is done correctly.

Just show up for work and try to do what they ask in a relatively timely manner and you will be the best employee on the shift. |

Usually the items are already marked through the computer system unless they go on sale. Wal-Mart items do not usually have prices on them (like stickers). They are priced through the home office unless it is a rollback item and then the Dept. Manager is responsible for making the price change. So, the answer to your question is no, you will only need to stock items. |

Okay, I didn't work at Wal-Mart, but um a ol wady, so I know this - don't worry about it. I'm sure that they'll tell you AND give you enough opportunity to ask all the necessary questions.
Good luck! |

my condolences you poor poor girl....i spent almost 10 years there in management and couldn't get out of there fast enough......be prepared for low pay, substandard benefits, and a corporate culture that rewards those that kiss as*s and looks down on anyone who is different and doesn't believe they are working for the best company in the world. they aren't the best company in any world, but don't ever say it even if you agree....they'll make sure your life is a living hell until they finally run you out of there...and, as a woman, don't ever expect to get promoted unless you kiss as*s at twice the rate of the men there. there were much better choices out there......too bad you got stuck with wally world....
and just to add to what you just added....don't ever say no....there is no such word as no in wal mart world....you will be seen as someone who isn't a 'team player' and someone who will be marked as a troublemaker and be stuck with the worst jobs they can put you on....and never refuse to get up and do the wal-mart cheer in the meetings either....you will be austracized and shunned like the plauge by those in management |

I know shelf stock usually stock merchandise, however you may have to retrieve merchandise that was not purchased if asked to do so. Congratulations on getting your first job. In no time at all you will be on the cash register.
Good luck and do your best........ |

Go work for Target, if you can. I have 2 relatives who work at Wal-mart corporate and I just toured their facilities last week. What a joke! My nephew has to work the "standard 45 hour week" (isn't the national average 40?) and they're expected to spend some of their Saturdays at corporate meetings, cheering "Give me a 'W'...give me an "A"..." etc. There is no overtime, but if you work over it is considered "comp time" that you can use for a day. I guess this is the major thing they're in trouble for with the labor law. They fit their employees with "pods" instead of "cubicles" (1/2 the size of cubicles, enough room to fit a keyboard, a flat screen monitor and 2 small drawers). They also have this "10 foot rule" which requires everyone to say hello to fellow co-workers during the day. All the people who work there think it's the greatest place to work for. But then, most of these people have never worked for another employer. |

I worked there when I was 18 now I'm 34. Very few items at Walmart actually have a price tag, Everthing is computerized and the only thing that has a price on it, is the shelf tag. So my guess is No . |

Usually NO that job is up to the Dept mgr or Receiving. As all items received are usually pre-tagged with the price. from the local distribution centers spread accross the country. |

why do you want to know, so you can change the price and then have a family member come in and buy it for you real cheap? lol That's a very odd Question. |
