Its going to take alot of time and investment before you see a profit, so I suggest that you make your site about something that your passionate about. Doing so will save you alot of research time, because you are already have a good amount of knowledge on what you are doing.
Once you have a good amount of articles written, then promote products that relate to your site. You can do this by putting in banner advertisements, links, and links inside your articles.
Now that you have your like you want it, its time to start promoting it:
Submit to all the major search engines
Find sites that your site will compliment, Exchange links or ask the owner if you can run a paid ad on thier site.
When first starting its almost a must to pay for advertisements, a good place to do this is http://www.traffic.submityoursite.us
Getting started will be hard and your not going to make a profit for a couple of months. Once you pick up traffic and start getting listed in the search engines, Its completly worth it. You will spend less time and money on the site the longer you have it. |

First making money from a website takes some work. Using Blogs, and freeweb type places reduce the chance that you will amke any real money. Create your own site. Many hosting companies that you register your domain name with offer hosting packages with blog templates etc... in them. And it will be your own url not a subdomain of another site like crazyday.blogspot.com ....
That url is considered by search engines as a subdomain and the content is layers into the server so it showing up on search results would be difficult.
Next it's not easy money at first. You need to start off with at least 20 to 30 pages of great content then ad a page a day for at least a year. Plan on each page taking at least an hour. after that you can get away with a page a week. |

Sounds like you are interested in internet marketing. It is a process, but if you are willing to put in the time, it is quite rewarding. You can't just make a site and link products to it and expect to make money.
Here is the process
1) Find a product(s) you want to promote
2) Research your target audience/potential clientele
3) Research relevant keywords that aren't too competitive (i.e you don't want to use keywords that a million other sites show up under when google searched. You have to find keywords that still get traffic, but with less advertiser competition
4) Make a blog at blogger.com and squidoo.com
5) Link these two together via Rss Feed
6) Start Promoting Your product via classifieds at usfreeads.com, writing and submitting articles to goarticles.com/ezine.com. and using google ad words/pay per click advertising.
7) Add Fresh content to your site and develop a sales page and another website if you like and link your blogs to them
As you can see, it takes a lot of work to make money but if done right, you can definitely make a very nice living.
