Blogging can be an effective tool. If done well it can engage people and will ensure they keep coming back, then they are at your site and you can promote your business.
And I agree with the chap at the top, put a weblink everywhere you go. I would add, tell people what you want them to do with it. |

This website is great for web advertising. It's a free targeted advertising (based on you selecting various categories you would like to be included in) and link exchange network. You put other websites text ads on your page and yours appears on others. And it really is 100% free, forever. While it's not something that guarantees traffic it also doesn't cost anything, so why not try it?
Good luck! |

You can go 2 ways with this. You can look into signing up for bidvertiser- they send your ads to other sites to get noticed and they are very cheep. Or you can join a new program called Pay per play. They take a 5 second audio recording about your ads and send it to other sites. They are also very cheep. Sign up for bidvertiser at http://www.geocities.com/bidvertiserads

You could try craigslist or try calling local businesses that you would be catering to. Cold calling is tedious, but I have landed some of my largest accounts just calling over the phone. |

Here are some thoughts which I hope will spark other thoughs.
you have not given me alot of information about your business so I may have made some assumptions. I would like to apologise for telling how it is. Sales is just sales it pays the mortgage/rent.
1) go to free start up business courses (business link/local enterprises courses run by the governement). there will a lot of people there who will want your design assistance and help with sales letters. you have a good story and people will see that and give you business. The trick is to stay interested even after you have been to ten courses (thats ten customers!).
2) For large companies in your area. Try these two options
a) ring them (if budget is tight use VOIP) - you are trying to get them (office manager assistant) to put you on his/her contacts list, backed up by a business card and/or website that she/he can show the boss
b) get temp job using an agency that puts people in large companies in your area. dont sell your business only mention something if asked. you have a good story i.e you are temping until your business gets going.
3) find someone who is setting up a business branding products and businesses. You could be their first supplier.
4) be careful about you ideas being nicked. once you are in and showing options. You might disagree with me here but, you should charge for design, and say - the customer gets the correct amount of design work needed to get it right. the customer is not continuosly charged for design everytime they order more product. The print/product is cheaper. How many prints/product will you(the customer) need in the next 12 months? |

I am going to say do not ever send leaflets through peoples doors, everyone will know about you, but not for the right reasons. Its so annoying!
Lots of sites do free advertising or put an ad in a paper or something. |
