Even though the Chine made product is imported it may cost less than the product made hee in the US. Why? Because in the US there are labor union hat guarantee the worker a wage and benefits. This increases the cost of the product. The workers here in the US requires more money to survive than the worker in China. |

many products made in China are not subject to the same regulations or standards as products made in the US. that's why there have been so many cases of China-made products being recalled. (e.g. food products w/ salmonella, toys with lead-paint, etc.)

people in chinese factories make about $1 a day in salary. why do they make so little money? because there are 1.3 billion people in china and only about 2 million jobs available (excluding working in rice paddies) |

there is a huge difference for most products. they used cheaper subsitude products. which is why their prices tend to be lower. they also dont spend millions and billions on advertisment and research. they just sell american products and remake them. big thing is that they are unreliable. china dont have regulations like USA. dont have to do anything in any certain ways. theres an article in popular science in the Sept or Oct issue about how chinese cars are so much cheaper but when tested, the cars crushed like pop cans. |

The majopr difference is in the reason why products re made where they are. Corporations in the United States who wish to produce a product for market obviously want to produce at the lowest possible cost in order to increase their profit margin. The developed United States primarily offers employment in the service sector of the economy. (Not many are willing to take manufacturing jobs) Even if Americans would, they would expect to be payed generously. China offers a workforce at a much lower wage and willing to work manufacturing jobs sometimes for long hours. Chinese manufacturers have been known to take shortcuts and attempt to falsely enhance products to make them more desirable to the market. An example of this is the tainted pet food that entered the United States last year. |

Products made in the US tend to have been made by people who received more money for their effort (i.e. higher labor costs), and the process and result will likely have been more regulated than products coming from China.
Chinese goods can be as good as American goods, but they haven't had an infrastrure in place to control Q/A as long as Americans have. Of course, their labor force is HUGE and they've only been in the capitalism business for a few years so their labor is very very cheap. |
